DiagAI Technical Brief
Multi-agent automotive diagnostic intelligence, protocol-native UDS and J1939 reasoning, and private on-premise deployment.
In short
DiagAI is an on-premise, multi-agent automotive diagnostic system. Designed for OEM and Tier-1 engineering labs, it coordinates eight specialized diagnostic agents across ISO 14229 UDS, OBD-II, and SAE J1939 protocols: MisfireAgent, FuelAgent, WLTPAgent, DFCAgent, IUPRAgent, GearAgent, DrivabilityAgent, and StartWarmupAgent. Rather than relying on generic LLM summaries, DiagAI evaluates DTC freeze frames, snapshot records, and raw MDF4 measurement telemetry, returning ranked root-cause diagnoses backed by verifiable signal evidence.
01
The diagnostic troubleshooting complexity
Modern vehicle diagnostic trees contain thousands of trouble codes and interrelated freeze-frame parameters. Intermittent faults—such as transient air-fuel excursions or intermittent CAN bus communication drops—frequently elude static decision trees.
DiagAI deploys specialized agents that cross-examine telemetry from distinct engineering perspectives, correlating diagnostic fault codes against high-frequency physical sensor data.
02
The eight specialist diagnostic agents
DiagAI divides reasoning across eight dedicated domain agents: MisfireAgent evaluates cylinder combustion anomalies; FuelAgent inspects BSFC, BMEP, and fuel trim; WLTPAgent checks regulatory drive-cycle emissions compliance; DFCAgent decodes OEM-specific UDS fault memory logic; IUPRAgent tracks OBD monitor readiness; and GearAgent, DrivabilityAgent, and StartWarmupAgent analyze transient drivability and thermal stabilization.
Agents evaluate telemetry in parallel, comparing physical evidence against protocol standards to determine fault probability.
03
Protocol-native context and on-premise deployment
DiagAI deeply understands UDS Service $19 (ReadDTCInformation), Service $22 (ReadDataByIdentifier), and freeze-frame structures. It maps proprietary OEM signals to standardized physical channels across legacy DBC databases.
Deployments run fully on-premise using local model runtimes (such as Ollama or LM Studio) with isolated per-OEM knowledge retrieval indices, ensuring proprietary fault logs and calibration files never leave the facility.
04
What we do not claim
DiagAI is in pilot with select powertrain engineering teams. We do not publish accuracy percentages or benchmark scores because comprehensive statistical sample sizes are still being compiled.
DiagAI generates ranked engineering diagnoses and physical verification steps; it does not replace human engineering sign-off for safety-critical automotive systems.
Questions
Frequently asked.
Which protocols does DiagAI support?
DiagAI supports ISO 14229 (UDS), OBD-II, SAE J1939, CAN, and LIN protocols.
Can DiagAI run without sending data to external cloud APIs?
Yes. DiagAI supports 100% on-premise operation using local models (e.g. DeepSeek via Ollama/LM Studio) and local vector indices.
Where can I download the complete DiagAI PDF technical brief?
The complete technical brief is available for direct download at https://vehiclelab.in/resourses/market/diagai-brief.pdf.
